Job Title: Biologist (Environmental Scientist/Planner I) #9001 Department: Biology Office: Ventura, San Luis Obispo
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking to hire a temporary entry-level biologist to conduct fieldwork, monitor for environmental compliance and assist with technical reports for general biological resources and habitat assessments, including vegetation classification and mapping, plant and wildlife species inventory, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys. This position requires the ability to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions, and may require occasional extended overnight travel in remote locations.
The ideal candidate will: have knowledge of and some experience in the field with identification of plants and wildlife of California; interpretation of and navigation using topographic and aerial imagery map, and application of general field survey techniques; be highly motivated with excellent documentation skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team; maintain close attention to detail; and demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines. The position requires a B.S. in biology, ecology, natural resources, or another related field. Candidates with the equivalent in knowledge and experience may also be considered.
Job Title: Environmental Compliance Monitor (Environmental Scientist I) #9002 Department: Biology Office: Ventura, San Luis Obispo
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking to hire temporary entry-level staff to assist with biological and environmental compliance monitoring for large and small projects in southern and central California. The primary duties for this position include monitoring and reporting regulatory compliance conditions for a range of issues: terrestrial and aquatic biological resources, tree resources, water quality, noise, air quality (fugitive dust), BMPs, mitigation and restoration success, and erosion control. This position serves as a liaison between Rincon, our clients, contractors, and relevant agencies to ensure projects are compliant with conditions of approval. This position requires the ability to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions, and may require occasional extended travel.
Desired Skills:
- Minimum B.S. in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or another related field (candidates with the equivalent in knowledge and experience may also be considered)

- HAZWOPER certification or willingness to become certified

Job Title: Aquatic Ecologist/Fisheries Biologist (Environmental Scientist I/ II) #9003 Department: Biology Office: Ventura, San Luis Obispo
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Aquatic Ecologist and/or Fisheries Biologist to conduct field work for fisheries-related projects that include design and implementation of field studies and performance of environmental analyses, including fisheries impacts assessments, fish population analyses, aquatic community baseline studies, fish passage and habitat assessments, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, instream flow studies, and habitat restoration and enhancement. Other responsibilities include; building and maintaining client relations, and participating in project development, project management, and preparation of scopes and budgets. Ideally, this person will be viewed as a technical expert with recognized expertise in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity. Travel will be required.
Desired Skills/Certifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Fisheries or Aquatic Biology or another related field (candidates with the equivalent in knowledge and experience may also be considered)
- 3-8 years of related experience ideally including California freshwater shrimp, arroyo chub, Santa Ana sucker, unarmored threespine stickleback, tidewater goby or salmonids (steelhead trout, coho salmon) in central and southern California
- Federal Endangered Species Act 10(a)1(A) permits to survey, trap, handle, and relocate federally listed aquatic species; California Department of Fish and Game Scientific Collecting Permit to survey, trap, handle, and relocate aquatic species
- Experience and background in fisheries/aquatic surveys, studies, and/or agency consultation• General knowledge and experience identifying plants and wildlife of California
- Highly motivated with excellent documentation skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Familiarity or expertise with fisheries regulations, permitting, and regulatory compliance
- Strong technical writing abilities, detail oriented; resourceful; strong time management skills

Job Title: Desert Biologist/Environmental Compliance Monitor (Environmental Scientist I/II) #9004 Department: Biology Office: Ventura, Carlsbad
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a temporary project hire biologist to provide biological monitoring and survey services for projects in the Southern California desert regions. Candidates must be able to conduct fieldwork, monitor for environmental compliance and assist with technical reports for general biological resources and habitat assessments, including vegetation classification, mapping, and plant/wildlife species inventory, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys. This position requires the ability to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions (extreme heat and cold).
The ideal candidate will be local to the Mojave or Colorado Desert regions, as they will be directly reporting to the project site. Candidates must have knowledge and experience in the field identification of plants and wildlife of the California desert region, map reading, and field survey techniques; and be highly motivated with excellent documentation skills, maintain close attention to detail, and demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines. Good interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.

Job Title: Senior Biologist (Environmental Scientist II) #9005 Department: Biology Office: Carlsbad
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking to hire a full-time senior-level biologist to conduct fieldwork, manage environmental compliance projects, and prepare biological resource technical reports. Reports could include general habitat assessments with vegetation classification and mapping, plant and wildlife species inventories, resource constraints analyses, tree surveys and jurisdictional delineations. A strong candidate will have 5+ years of experience with a background in regulatory compliance, understanding of current biological and wetlands regulations and permit requirements, and knowledge of the local agency procedures and requirements. Ideally, this role would also include business development within San Diego and surrounding counties. Business development would include obtaining new clients through proposal writing, client meetings, and general marketing.
This position also requires the ability to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions, and may require occasional extended overnight travel to remote locations.

Job Title: Senior Planner/CEQA Project Manager #5001 Department: Planning Office: Ventura
Rincon Consultants is seeking a senior environmental planner/project manger for our Ventura office. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience managing the preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents and familiarity with California local government land use planning and entitlement processes. Excellent writing and presentation skills are essential. Analytical skills including noise and air quality modeling are a plus. Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's of higher degree in Environmental Sciences, Urban/Regional Planning or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience working in the field of environmental assessment and planning in California
- Experience with noise and air quality modeling and analysis
- Experience managing the preparation of environmental review documents under CEQA and NEPA
- Demonstrated ability to manage CEQA and NEPA document preparation, including coordination with internal staff, subconsultants and clients; review of internal draft report sections and technical studies; ability to track project scope, schedule, and budget
- Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills are required
