Rincon Announces Hiring of Two Senior Planners in SLO Office. Rincon Consultants is pleased to announce that Kris Vardas and Rob Mullane have joined our firm as senior planners in its Environmental Sciences and Planning Group in Rincon's San Luis Obispo office.

Kris Vardas comes to Rincon Consultants with over 14 years of CEQA/NEPA and water resource experience. He has analyzed large public works projects throughout California, including pipelines, water treatment, and energy facilities. Kris has authored studies addressing recycled water, water storage and distribution, and water rights. His experience will also augment Rincon's expertise in consulting with schools and educational facilities by addressing environmental issues.

Rob Mullane's 11 years of experience includes senior positions in both local and regional planning agenices. For years he led planning projects in the City of Goleta and County of Santa Barbara. Rob's expertise in public policy, coastal process, and energy compliance issues will enhance Rincon's strengths in these areas. He will also play a key role in expanding contract planning services to cities and counties througout California.

Winter 2007

Rincon Consultants Awarded Calabasas General Plan. Rincon Consultants was recently awarded a contract through the City of Calabasas to completed their General Plan documentation. The 2030 General Plan update program is designed to build upon the vision and community values that have made Calabasas a special place to live, work, and visit. The General Plan work is scheduled to be complete in 2008.


Fall 2006

Rincon Expands Planning Services to Carlsbad Office. Joanne Dramko, AICP, GISP, has relocated to our Carlsbad office where she will lead planning-related work in the San Diego region. Joanne has completed numerous high profile projects including a NEPA-centered analysis of the Santa Monica Pier access ramp redesign and the GIS mapping for a major utility company's environmental compliance program. Joanne serves as Rincon's GIS/Graphics Manager and is one of an inagural 2,000 professionals nationally to receive the new Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification for outstanding work in GIS. Abe Leider Joins Ventura ESP Team.
Abe Leider, AICP, has joined Rincon's staff as a Senior Planner. Abe comes to the firm after many years with Santa Barbara County where he developed noteworthy expertise in policy and development code matters. He has quickly taken the lead in overseeing Rincon's growing number of contract planning assignments including one with the City of Ojai. He is currently overseeing a team of consultants in completing a permit backlog portfolio project for th City of Los Angeles.

San Luis Obispo Office Authors Habitat Conservation Plan. Rincon Consultants biologist Kevin Merk led the authoring of a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) for the endangered California tiger salamander, threatened California red-legged frog, and additional special status species found within a 200-acre ranch proposed for future residential development in northern Santa Barbara County. The HCP establishes mehods to maintain the populations of these species within the property in perptuity while providing for "incidental take" or removal of federally-listed species from the site over a ten-year construction period.
